Traveling can provide you the opportunity to purchase fun fabrics that are not available at your local fabric shop. So occasionally, I will highlight my favorite fabric shops in different cities around the world. Our first city is Suva, Fiji! We were posted in Fiji for a little over two years and I had plenty of time to scope out fabric shops! My top three shops were: Motiram & Co Pte Ltd, CK’s Suva Bargain Center, and Atlas Mega Variety.
Motiram & Co Pte Ltd
Motiram sells both fabric and bedding. They have cotton fabric, clothing fabric (dresses and school uniforms), as well as upholstery fabric. I picked up some really different pillow inserts here. Here’s one that we use for game nights, sleepovers, etc due to the giant size (kept my feet in the picture so you can appreciate the size of the pillow). I also have a meter long bolster pillow insert. Checking out their website, Motiram has locations in both Suva and Nadi (the main tourist city). If you are in Suva, it’s about 13 minute walk from the downtown waterfront (though somewhat uphill).

CK’s Suva Bargain Center
CK’s Suva Bargain Center is not exclusively a fabric shop, but they have a great selection of Bula fabric (think Hawaiian style fabric). CK’s is also located in downtown Suva within walking distance of the port (if you are in town via a cruise ship). CK’s is the perfect mix of quality and affordability. I picked up the yards and yards of fabric needed to make our kalavata (family colors). CK’s also has a wide selection of notions, my favorite item was buttons made from coconut shells.

Atlas Mega Variety
Atlas Mega Variety is a bit of craft store with a whole lot of fabric as well as some housewares. This shop had a lot of variety of all fabric types. It is a outside of downtown area (15 minute drive from the downtown waterfront) and I would recommend getting a driver (getting a cab back might be tricky). When visiting, my goddaughter picked up a gorgeous white on white tropical floral pattern fabric to use as some wedding table decorations.
